Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Chef cookbooks, recipes, templates, attributes, and custom resources
- Build and enhance infrastructure automation pipelines for provisioning and configuration
- Implement policy-based configuration using Chef Infra, Test Kitchen, InSpec, and Chef Automate
- Integrate Chef with CI/CD systems (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
- Perform error handling, versioning, and code reviews for cookbook updates
- Work with platform teams (Compute, Storage, Network, Cloud) to automate repeatable operations
- Troubleshoot configuration drifts, cookbook failures, and infrastructure-level issues
- Enforce compliance and security baselines using Chef InSpec
- Drive automation maturity and reduce manual operational activities
- Prepare documentation, standards, and automation patterns
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with Chef Infra, Chef Automate, Test Kitchen, InSpec
- Proficiency in Ruby, PowerShell, Bash scripting
- Understanding of CI/CD and Git-based workflows
- Experience with Windows/Linux administration
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
- Infrastructure automation and configuration management best practices
- Debugging configuration drift and infra-related issues
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support compute infrastructure across on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid environments
- Ensure high availability and performance of Windows and Linux compute platforms
- Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Chef, or Terraform
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability engineering improvements
- Build dashboards, alerts, and monitoring for compute health and capacity
- Optimize VM sizing, performance tuning, lifecycle management, and patching strategy
- Implement SRE practices: SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets, Toil reduction
- Collaborate with network, storage, security, and cloud platform teams
- Drive improvements in scalability, self‑healing, observability, and automation
- Maintain compliance and hardening standards across compute assets
Required Skills:
- Strong Windows/Linux administration background
- Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Experience with configuration management tools (Chef preferred)
- Knowledge of virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V) and cloud compute (Azure/AWS)
- Understanding of monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor)
- Strong incident management and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with SRE concepts (SLOs, Error Budgets, Reliability Patterns)
