Job Description

Capital One is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer with strong AWS experience to drive the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. This role will play a key part in enabling scalable, secure, and highly available platforms while mentoring teams and promoting DevOps best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of DevOps solutions using AWS cloud services
  • Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes
  • Collaborate closely with application development, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth releases
  • Drive infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Monitor system performance, reliability, and security, and proactively resolve issues
  • Establish and enforce DevOps standards, best practices, and governance
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across DevOps initiatives
  • Support production environments with a focus on high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of overall IT experience with strong focus on DevOps and cloud engineering
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of security, networking, and compliance in cloud environments

Nice to Have

  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.)
  • Experience in financial services or large enterprise environments
  • Exposure to SRE practices and observability tools
