Job Description:

The Teradata Database Administrator (DBA) plays a critical role in the design, implementation, performance tuning, and operational support of enterprise Teradata database platforms. This role ensures database availability, security, and performance across Development, Testing, and Production environments, while complying with application specifications and organizational standards.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise in Teradata administration, strong SQL and performance optimization skills, and experience working in 24x7 production support environments.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in Teradata Database Administration.
  • Strong expertise with Teradata tools and utilities.
  • Solid understanding of architecture principles, design patterns, and implementation alternatives.
  • Proven experience in performance optimization and SQL tuning.
  • Ability to write complex Teradata SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
  • Strong experience with TASM workload setup and management.
  • Hands-on experience with UNIX scripting and TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler).
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools, including Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Terraform as a digital competency (6–8+ years preferred).
  • Highly motivated, team-oriented, and customer-focused.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Teradata databases across Development, Test, and Production environments.
  • Create and manage users, roles, database objects, including tables and views.
  • Collaborate closely with application development teams on database design and implementation.
  • Monitor daily database activities, performance metrics, system growth, and tuning configurations.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure database security, availability, and compliance.
  • Monitor database statistics and application-specific parameters to maintain optimal performance.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24x7 production support.
  • Perform UNIX scripting and workload scheduling using TWS.
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting in fast-paced environments.
